Stewarding

The Colourthon is a great event and has now firmly established itself in the Southend Calendar as one of the town’s premier events. If you have friends or family walking in the event what better way to support them than cheering them along.

The event is organised totally on a voluntary basis and, as you’d expect, takes a great deal of planning to put the event in place but, without doubt, one of the most key roles is that of event Steward; quite simply regardless of all the planning the event would just not happen without all the great Stewards we have helping.Colourthon Stewarding

The role of Steward is to help and guide the walkers around the route throughout all 13.2 miles, it takes approximately 80 Stewards to achieve this. The atmosphere is great, from the friendly banter of the walkers to the public spectating on the event all on a beautiful summers evening in Southend.

Stewarding is voluntary but we do supply light refreshments and transport buses to shuttle you to and from the park and around the route to the Stewarding positions. We also provide safety tabards, we do though recommend you wear some comfortable shoes.

Stewards need to be at the Registration Tent by 5pm on the day of the event where they’ll receive a full briefing and then be allocated to their locations. All Stewards are deployed in pairs and you will not be left on your own. Stewards also receive a detailed breakdown of the route, heath, safety and event information.

So what are you waiting for, get involved in a great event!

To register you need to be aged 18 or over on the day of the event. You can register here: Steward Registration.
