With over £1.6 million pledged to date benefitting over 700 different charities, it’s easy to understand why the Colourthon is one of the top fundraising events in Essex! This is our 14th event and we believe key to its success is the fact that you can take part and raise money for ANY registered charity.
Moonlight Colourthon
Our flagship event and still Southend’s ultimate challenge. A half marathon FUN walk around Southend by night… with a difference!
Those walking are encouraged to dress as brightly as their imaginations will allow! As organisers, we think we have seen it all… but there are charity spot prizes for those who impress us with their costumes!
Besides the obvious fun of dressing up, when you are out on the course, it highlights to the public the many worthy causes represented by our walkers in full and spectacular colour!
With 13.1 miles to cover, the walk takes in all the sights, sounds and smells of the seaside by night. Our stewarding team will keep you safe and cheer you on, all the way back to our amazing night time finish line party!
How do I enter?
To take part in any Colourthon events you must first register and become a Member (FREE). There are two categories of membership:
- Personal – allows anyone to become part of the event
- Organisation – intended for Companies, Charities and Businesses.
As a member you’ll be kept fully up-to-date with everything Colourthon. You can also register to take part in any of The Colourthon events* either on your own or as part of a group, nominating the registered charity you wish to raise sponsorship for.
The entrance fee for ‘Moonlight Colourthon’ includes all you need including your finishing medal. So, what are you waiting for? Get signed up, get training and you too can take the challenge and . .
If you want to take part in the Colourthon but are not sure of a charity to support, we’d be delighted for you to walk for Southend Round Table (registered charity), an organization committed to supporting the local community. Simply enter them as your nominated charity on the Registration Form.
What happens next?
Following your registration to the event, you’ll receive confirmation of your entrance together with links to detailed event information and your Sponsorship Form etc. Remember this is a FUN challenge, so we will leave it to you to set your own training schedule!!
The small print:
For information, the registration fee is intended to cover our many event costs, however, should there be any surplus monies, these will be donated directly to ‘Southend Round Table 106’ (Registered Charity No. 1052897) to be used to benefit the local community. Details of how they donate this money is available at www.southendroundtable.com.
All the sponsorship money that you raise and collect should be sent directly to your nominated charity and, for each of your sponsors that ticks the Gift Aid box on the sponsorship form the charity will also benefit from a tax refund currently 25% of the total raised (e.g. every £10 raised will be worth £12.50 to your charity).
*Entrants must by aged 13 or over to enter the Moonlight and Twilight Colourthon (Entrants under 16 must be accompanied by a Parent/Guardian who should sign the Registration Form on their behalf). Please see our Terms and Conditions for full information.
